Fullstack Engineer
Join Reel as a Fullstack Engineer to accelerate the renewable energy transition.
About Reel
We are rethinking electricity to accelerate the transition to a carbon-free energy system.
Electricity is one of the biggest sources of carbon emissions globally, yet most green power sold on the market today fails move the needle toward decarbonizing electricity production.
Reel empowers companies to move beyond climate commitments and achieve real-world carbon reductions, by bridging the gap between renewable energy producers and consumers.
Join our mission-driven, cross-disciplinary team of developers, builders, and climate experts working to accelerate the transition to a net-zero economy.
How you can contribute
As our new Fullstack Engineer, you will be directly helping companies achieve lower electricity costs and drive real climate impact. You will work closely with Christian, our CTO, and the rest of the engineering and product team to build the software powering the renewable energy transition.
What your role will be
These are some (not all) of the things you will be working on:
Build the core of our energy platform: The tools our customers rely on to understand, optimize, and act on their energy consumption and production.
Work with real-time and complex data: Work with real-time energy data, building interfaces and visualisations that make complex datasets feel intuitive.
Ship to real users with real stakes: Build tools used daily by teams managing millions of kWhs in consumption and production.
Collaborate across design and product: Work directly with design and product to shape features all the way from idea to shipped.
Grow fast in a high-trust environment: Take on real ownership early, with experienced colleagues around you to learn from and get feedback.
Help set the direction: Help shape our frontend architecture and the direction our platform evolves.
We think you will thrive in this role if
You care about building things that matter, take real ownership of your work, and have a bias for shipping. You don't need to know anything about energy today - but you'll be curious to learn. You might also recognise yourself in some of these:
You have experience shipping software - whether at a company, a startup, or on your own projects.
You enjoy taking projects from idea to shipped, and like to ship often.
You work well independently, but know when to ask for help and enjoy learning from those around you.
You have a strong frontend foundation and are curious about the broader stack.
You are curious about how AI tools can help us ship better software as a team.
We work in Elixir, using the Phoenix framework and LiveView + TypeScript for the front-end. We use Python for ML and trading. We’re hosted on GCP, data in Postgres w. TimeScale and BigQuery. Experience in this stack is by no means a requirement - several engineers on the team today had no prior experience in Elixir.
